Chicago, IL … Stating the new state budget is nothing but a political hoax, State Representative Suzie Bassi (R-Palatine) today voted against the Democrat spending plan that leaves critical funding shortfalls.

Democrats passed an unbalanced budget without identifying how they are going to pay for it. The FY09 budget, opposed by the House Republicans, includes $2 billion in new spending.

“There is not enough revenue growth to cover the obligations we already have much less new obligations that the Democrats falsely promised state agencies, groups and universities,” said Bassi. “The Democrats promised millions of dollars to these entities knowing there is not enough money to pay for these programs. This is nothing but a political game played just in time for campaign season to begin.”
